Speaking of wild things on FB marketplace...

I saw a Dakar E36 and got interested. Then I wasn't anymore.

You guys are surprised people are selling print ads from 25 years ago? Because that's neither a rare nor new thing on eBay.

Very sad at all the print ads in all the Car and Drivers I’ve thrown out over the years.

But mostly I’m trying to figure out who would want to pay $12 for an ad for a slushbox E36 M3.

So far, it looks like nobody wants it...?

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, and they sold lots of slushy M3s

I currently have hundreds of C&D dating to 1994 I am going to recycle. I was actually thinking of going through some of them and cut out stuff like that. Many months later, I've done nothing for obvious time reasons. To John's point, I am very nostalgic. It makes no sense. I'll never read them. Still.

I'd love for C&D to do what Nat Geo did and archive the magazine digitally page by page, ads and all. I'd pay way too much for that and recycle the rags immediately.

I mean, if it wasn't about a slushbox, I'd have bought it for the shop.

I realized the other day that my "Heaven Above You/Heaven Below You" E36 M3C poster that I bought 20 years ago when I had one had disintegrated into nothing, which was kind of sad. Though I guess I could get another one for $12, so it's not that sad.

But actually this was my favorite:

I used to have a pretty good collection of old car magazines back to the early 90s as well. I ended up getting rid of them about 10 years ago due to a move. Kinda wished I'd kept them although the reality is I almost never perused them.

I have boxes of car mags back to the 70s that should mostly go to recycling, but...don't. I still have two car magazine subs (C&D and R&T). They don't add to the boxes, though, as I give them to my nephew.

When I bought some older cars in the 80s and 90s, I enjoyed finding advertising for them at flea markets and bought some. Still have them.

If I bought an old car like that again, I'd probably buy old advertising on ebay or a website and then display it on a wall at work. If I worked in an office. Which I hope to never do again.
