Does the G20 use that dumb open/close grill deal like the 7 series? When the car is off the baffle closes. I'm not up on my BMW knowledge that much anymore.

A lot of cars have active grille shutters now so probably. Porsche uses them on the 992

My 540 had that and so does my M550, pretty sure my sons M340 does as well.

They are also used to help cars warm up faster because engines are more fuel efficient and produce less emissions at normal operating temps than during cold startup.

The Focus ST had them. At an autocross on a hot day, I developed a near-overheating issue that I discovered was caused by 1/2 (or 1/4?) of the shutters being stuck closed. The arm operating that half (or quarter) had gotten stuck or maybe jumped the gear controlling its motion (hard to remember now) that left it closed. With air temps in the low 90s, 45 seconds of intense use was enough to raise the coolant temp about 40 degrees.

I don't really see how that makes a difference with a closed thermostat?
