Yeah. The M diff with AWD and in a car that you're presumably never going to turn traction control off in isn't particularly valuable.

I think, though, that the obvious answer is the GMA T.50. Room for your son and a friend, and you'll be the cool Mom.

If you think you're likely to end up at one car, the M3 seems like a no brainer.
Also, is there a Silvercar near you? You might also just consider renting a Q5 for trips. There's a possibility that we'll be shuttling a puppy to my parents in the next 6 months, and we will 100% be using a nice rental for that.
