No one is ever going to drive this car, except a few feet onto and off of the trailer.

Step 1: Disconnect speedo cable at gearbox
Step 2: Commence burnout

The perfect Fox body ownership experience

$23k for an e46 wagon.... outrageous. I bid to $14+, which I thought was fair for the car. BAT+WAGON+MANUAL = STUPID $$$

There is a nice auto one in VA with 70k miles for $10k. I know they're not apples comparable, but a manual and 30k miles aren't worth $13,000.

While the BAT one was low miles, it had some suspect history too. New clutch at 18k, leaking sunroof just fixed, the selling dealer did a bunch of maintenance right before listing that should have happened years ago, some rust signs, etx.

Ours was Topaz, a 2003. Sigh. But, AWD and auto. It was my ex’s primary car and dog hauler after the Topaz Z3 stick.

I had a 2002 Jet Black 330i with sport and stick. Kept it 7 years and sold it to fund the slightly used M3C—back when the C meant convertible.

Really a nice era of cars...

Funny that this popped up. Last night I was looking for an old, digital picture and came across Clyde's and my feeble attempts at adding monster truck times to our E46's for avatar pictures

Yeah, I have thought about it from time to time. I Carmaxed mine 10 years ago for $6k with 100k, some rust beginning to bubble up around the rear wheel wells, busted AC, a CEL for reasons I don't remember, some other things wrong and a lot of maintenance about to be needed. In addition to the rust, the paint was pretty shit overall at that point, too.

Had I kept it, it would probably have 120-150k on it today, the body and paint would be in worse shape, and probably have had cost an additional $10-$15k in maintenance and repairs. Probably would have cost me an additional $3k in insurance and registration fees?

A year from today, maybe the answer is different, but at this point, I don't think the juice would have been worth the squeeze to get there.

The big question mark, though, is how desirable my spec would be and how it would play in pricing: 5 sped manual 325xiT slicktop, Leatherette, Sport Package, Bi-xenon, and Cold Weather Package without Premium Package.
