I remember back in the mid 80's, we (my brothers and I) talked of going in on a first gen Bronco. But didn't... I only say this here as the one we looked at was this same color... and seeing this one brings me flashbacks... lol

Makes me think I should have paid more attention to the cars I was looking at back in that period. $110k for this one... WOW

I bought the 2002 in 1983. But was seriously considering a 1968 911 that was for sale also (the 2002 and 911 were for sale for the same 1983 $$)

Looking at the way both have increased to crazy values.... (albeit for the top cars) - I 'should' have bought the 911 and/or the Bronco. Then again - lol - The 2002 was perfect for me and the Bronco would have been a shared car and probably end up being trashed by the late 80's and sold for a song.

LOL -
Ah, the memories...
There was (is?) a company called Mainly Muscle Cars that did a lot of 1st gen Bronco restoring and restomoding.

They did some interesting work there

I don't love the stripes, but I'm all in on the color.

This is a really nice E38.

I miss the old BMW aesthetic.

I don't know why I never think of this, but at the current bid ($850k), that would be $53k in MA sales tax.

The condition of that car is amazing but it just looks old and boxy to me, not a fan but it is kind of funny that it comes with an old flip phone.

My dad used to have this car in blue. He sold it about 8 years ago and still misses it (granted it started to have annoying bmw type issues around 110k). I remember driving it and despite having an automatic and recirculating ball steering it was fun to drive

$53,125 in Texas. Can buy a pretty nice car for that.

A Lightning XLT. But then you'd have to pay tax on that.

I am not looking forward to when it comes time to do something to replace my E38. It has 230k on the clock and (mechanically) is doing ok... but the age and miles are starting have their effect on some of the other things.. window motors, NVH, seat wear - and just the outside wear and tear that kind of mileage has on the appearance.

I have been following these on BaT and other sites and probably will replace it with a close relative (E38/E39/M5 - maybe) - just with TONS fewer miles.
FYI - the E38 here is already just at the earlier BaT hammer price when it sold a while ago. With several hours to go still, will be interesting to see where this one ends up.
For when I get whatever will replace mine, I am really not sure where my search will take me... I am even thinking of driving the E23 for a while, sharing my daily duties with the 997.
HAHA - What a mix.. a modern-ish Porsche with a near classic old BMW sedan. It actually works in my mind... to a point. Oh well, will see where this ends up.

As far as the E38 & E39 goes - There is nothing on the road that compares to these cars - IMO.
