If you are serious about a VW, I recommend a 2019, there are leftovers out there for good prices and the 6/72 warranty cannot be beat. I admit I think the TDI (definitely pre-fix and likely post-fix), is a better engine than the 1.8T. But that doesn't make up for the rest of wear & tear.
If the sportwagen really is $19k+tax, that's kind of an unbeatable price for a new awd wagon with a manual and a 6/72 warranty. We wanted an exterior in a real color, non-cloth seats and a few other goodies that the base Alltrack comes with (larger tank). That would be in the $23k range for a similar deal.
