The joys of new (old car) ownership.....
Now that I've had the E9 (1970 2800CS) for about 6 weeks.....
I love it. I really do. I just forgot about all the gremlins that can come with 'breaking in' a new old car..... Clutch slave cylinder leaks - Replacement is 'supposedly' $305 but is not available presently anwyhere in the world. I have a 5-speed tranny sitting on my garage floor that may cure that issue. New battery died - seems I have a 1/2A draw on the battery just sitting there. Have not investigated it yet - I just disconnected the battery and put it on a trickle charger.... Dash lights & rear marker light circuit shorts out (blows fuse) - I have not investigated yet... Don't think it is related to my battery draw, but you never know. Brakes SQUEAK like hell when cold. Need to put new pads and rotors on (will do over the winter) Door checks have long since given out - will replace with modified 320i (E21) parts over the winter. The lower dash panel that covers the fuse box and hood release - need to adjust the latch. This one could prove to be a PITA - but being patient will help.... But seriously - The car is everything I wanted. I have had 25 years to work the bugs out of my 2002 - or that long to get used to them. I just need to play 'catch-up' on this 'new' car.... And - I'll say it here first.... Come next spring - The plan is to sell the 2002.

I hear that. I can't imagine trying to track down parts for an E9 (my favorite BMW btw) most of them are NLA. On start up this moring my coolant level light went on, went to open the hood to double check and top off but the hood catch on the passenger side is stuck. Thats going to be a bitch to fix.

Stuka, did you check your in-tank fuel pump? I know with E28s if the low pressure in-tank fuel pump goes and you have less than 1/4 tank full of gas you might have some fuel starvation. You might, if you haven't already, inspect and/or replace your relays.
