I have three lenses (AF new):

The big boys....
Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
Nikon 20-200mm f/2.8

And when I want to travel light...
Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6

I also have some nice non-AF Nikon lenses that I have been holding on to...
I really don't know what to do with them, but I will keep the FE body, so will keep the lenses for that 'antique' as well.
I wish someone made a digital back (or whatever) you could put on those old bodies... I'd be all over that.... Before I got the 700 (and now the 800) - I was seriously considering the Df before I was lured to the 'dark side'.

Funny story -

I had the D700 at work last Thursday to take some pics of my last delivery...
It was funny - our Customer had arranged an interior photo shoot to use in their marketing of their service and the Photo Producer (Seattle guy) was there to say goodbye as well. The photo shoot was done just the day before...

We were going to take a pic in the plane of the delivery team and he walked by - so I handed him the 700 (with a flash and 24-70 lens).

He looked at that and didn't miss a beat with taking some great shots.
He said he knew I wouldn't mess around - and my having the 700 'totally fit' me.
Wait till he sees the D800.....
(He loves the 997 too. He used to have an SC.. )

Nice!

The D700 does make it easy to take great pix from the get-go. Some of my favorite photos were taken with that camera.

Do you have a macro lens in your kit? The D800 really makes macro lenses come alive. I have a Nikon 105 2.8 that I love on the camera. Although, I have been eyeing a Zeiss macro for a very long time. Manual focus only, but that's mostly how I use a macro anyway.

Well - I took my first pics with the new (to me) camera...

Yeah - That 'zoom' factor of the large format does open up a totally different view on things.

The Museum of Flight had an open house today for their new 'Aviation Pavilion' where they have most of their large airplanes.... 747, Concorde, B-17, B29 and others...

Here is the first pic I took with the camera.... It is the nose art on the B-17 - Resized because the 17MB JPG file was way to big for this upload. The raw file is about 44MB...
