LOL

I have had to R & R probably an even dozen window regulators & motors in our 2001 GMC Yukon. The truck has ~270,000 miles on it now and I've probably had to do the drivers door 5 or 6 times, the front passenger 2 or 3 and each rear one 2 times.

It is a known weak spot in these trucks.
One weekend, I had my truck, a friends 2004 Denali and by BIL's Tahoe at our house for a 'window party'. It took me only an hour to do all three. Practice makes perfect. LOL

If you press the window switch and you hear the drive motor whirring and the window isn't doing anything, then you obviously need the regulator. Chances are, the cables that move the window have somehow gotten off their pulleys/track, preventing the window from moving at all.

I've done 2 in my car: the driver's door and the right rear passenger's door. Both easy to do.

Good luck.

The window started by making noise. Like lack of lubrication. Then it would not go down all the way, but would if you pushed the button again. Then it would not go down all the way at all. It is going down to about 2 inches from full open.

If just cables, that would be nice.

It is my experience that you CANNOT replace just the cables. You HAVE to buy the whole regulator assembly.

Sounds like your window motor is still good, which is a good thing.

The guys at bimmerfest or e46 fanatics might be able to help you. There's some sort of "zip-tie fix" that you might be able to do to temporarily fix your window issue.

Thanks, I will look into it.

But also trying to figure out which parts I would need to order to fix it.
