Someone remind me why I don't want an E36 M3/4

clicked the link. Obviously it's high, but the price seems reasonable enough, too bad it's yellow. If you can get over that, then yeah, might as well just buy it.

wtf is with the e46 m3 prices. Seriously, are they going up? If anyone wants mine for $40k, I'll go ahead and do the manual trans swap right now!

Only things I can come up with is it is yellow (sorry I know there is a lot of Dakar love here, but it is NOT for me) and it is at EAG so it is $5k too expensive.

Other than that, I think clean e36 M3s manuals with under 100k are super buys right now. The prices are going nowhere but up.

Would prefer Estoril or Technoviolet, but after that, Dakar is my favorite color.

EDIT: Also will be in Cincinnati in 2 weeks, but the car will probably be gone by then.

It would be fun, but for $5k more you could get an equally clean e39 M5. That would make for a better step from the Tesla. Would this just be another car for your garageless fleet or replace something?

EDIT: Kidding. It's really nice looking, but old. And I suspect if you haven't driven one in a long time, your memory of AWESOME!!one1!! it is to drive daily is better than how much you'd actually enjoy it today. I suspect that's true of my memory of my E46.

E36 M3s look best in Avus, Cosmos, or maybe Violet, so there's that. And, this one has too many doors.

I guess there are other reasons. You could argue about the engine pedigree and complain that it's not a "true" M-car, despite the fact that it appears to have had more usable torque and equivalent practical speed compared to its Euro brother. Or, you could argue about the styling, comparing it to the regular E36s and finding almost nothing different. Except the mirrors. Which were really pretty damn small. But mostly, on this car, I would complain that it's an EAG example, which means that it's probably stellar inside and out but therefore extremely expensive.

Rewinding my brain VCR about ten years, I also recall your non-insignificant complaints about the noise and squeakiness of your silver convertible's top. There was also that one day at the autocross, but we all have our moments.

I, too, have been looking occasionally for an E36 M3 (coupe, in black). The back seat is actually a bit of a detriment for me -- if I'm going to own a third car, I don't want to make concessions for non-adult humans and their "transportation needs," or for things like "space for groceries" or "child seat accessibility." But at the typical price ranges for E36 M3s, there aren't that many cars that are as much fun to drive and as (relatively) easy to maintain.

If you don't want a backseat, get a Boxster. What's the worst that happens? The engine goes and you have to tear it down? Been there, done that, right?

I've always thought of the E36 M3/4 as among the best cars ever built by anyone. I'm sort of bummed I never had the chance to own one.
