I'd love to have one and go off roading. Heck, I'd love to off-road our LR4 too. There just isn't anything remotely close by to warrant it. Also the LR4 has held up beautifully and it's an excellent, comfortable long trip car, so I don't wanna mess with it.

But I'd love one of these (or a Wrangler).

Are you sure? Even the RRS can tow close to 8000. Maybe that lower number is for the 4 cylinder version?

It's possible the guy bitching was wrong.

EDIT: I checked. Never mind, the guy's post was poorly written. I think he was tangentially referring to the Bronco and/or Wrangler. It seems the Defender can, in fact, tow the same as the LR4.

I like how you can get a base 2 door 7MT with the Sasquatch package Probably not allow it after a year or so and push people into more expensive trims.

I guess I'm the only one yawning? There's nothing about that seems wrong or bad or anything like that. Just zero appeal. But it seems like general reactions have been overwhelmingly beyond positive. So, clearly, what we see so far from the reveal is right on target.

I'm also left wondering what percentage of people buying them will ever use them in the manner the lifestyle marketing is selling? More than once or twice a year?

I just get a little confused when everyone is gaga over something to the point it feels like I'm missing something. Despite having had my own off road adventures (some of the most memorable being in a topless Bronco), the whole off road thing has never really registered with me.

An extreme minority will use the off road prowess or the optional packages they will buy.

If I lived near wilderness and off-roading trails I'd certainly use them, but I don't. There is nothing good for hours. That said, my LR4 already has FAR more capability than I'd ever use.

People are gaga because it's an interesting and affordable vehicle at a time when interesting vehicles are kind of disappearing.

Probably appeals to the deep-seated prepper in all of us. You COULD bug out, if you needed to...

SUVs have taken over the world, and as such, there's a strong interest in retro SUVs. The Bronco manages to capture some of that retro spirit. The design is appealing so people want it. Of course very few people will take them off road- but that goes for 99% any new offroad capable vehicles. But honestly most vehicles are overly capable for what people actually use them for. If you're going to get a crossover or SUV as your daily driver it might as well look good.

It is actually one of the few true off-road capable SUVs. Driving around the mall is pretty dumb with it but should be a bit better then a wrangler.

I probably wouldn't care about it if I lived on the east coast because of the terrain there.

Don't we expect the Ford to handle better than the Jeep, as well?
