Nice. I learned to drive on an 82 DL wagon. The dash design in the 79 actually looks more modern than the one they used in the 82. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I guess I kinda learned to drive in a Volvo 240. My mom drove one from the late 70's until the early 2000's.
I understand nostalgia and all that but it's interesting to me that people get excited about these cars. They kinda drove like tanks. Painfully slow ('cept maybe the turbo models which were just slow). Coarse, loud engine. Creaky and plodding on the road. I will say they had pretty great brakes and were very reliable (and for the day, very safe). We had an '87 Acura Legend and a '90 Volvo 240 (and a '84 5-speed Caravan ) when I was learning to drive and the Acura felt 20 years newer than the 240, not three years older. |

The BaT thread for the cars we won't buy, but kinda wish we would

Yep. I remember trying to convince my parents to get the Acura legend. Instead they got a Volvo 740. Not even the turbo . While I have some nostalgia for them, yeah, I still remember how slow they were and how crappy the interiors were (even by the standards of the 80s). In a perverse way it turned me into a car enthusiast because I remember vowing to never buy a car that slow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
