I've driven manual trannys all my life. Perhaps I just don't get as much sheer pleasure from just *driving* as some of you. At times, sure it's great to go out for a nice drive. However, I derive pleasure from a lot of other things I would place above driving. When I had my 911, I would purposely go out of my way to make unnecessary trips. It was FUN to drive.

My 6 is fun car, but in a completely different way. It has a lot of power, is roomy, and very comfortable for a daily driver. Much more comfortable than the 911 as a DD.

Having said all that, I would love to have a fun sports car sitting in the extra bay of the garage someday. It's just hard to justify that extra expense with everything else going on, especially with my kids. The tuition for both my kids in school is just STUPID expensive, and that's where my "wish I had another 911 as an extra car" money is going these days.

I'd be more than happy to drive a clean 5er, auto or not.

I can see the appeal of a 6er vert, it kind of reminds me of the big convertibles of the 40's and 50's - a touring car. No, I wouldn't consider it sporty per se, but a nice ride, yes - especially if you've got four adults out for a day trip.

For the record, it wasn't free. But sometimes one's family can make an offer that you know you probably should not turn down.

I can think of worse cars. But, yes, I feel old driving it.

That's a lot of cheddar, as they say. For that money, there was an '09 S at HBL, though it looks like they've sold it.

It has all that crazy crap on it (sport steering wheel, sport chrono, etc), no badges, and big wheels.

I think driving a manual transmission is less about the fun that it provides and more about control.

My OBC says that I average 22 mph or so. How much fun can that be? But I have no desire to drive an automatic.

Having obsessed over Boxster ads for weeks now, I have to ask-

Why are so many of them so horribly spec-ed? Awful color combos and rims are more common than not. I wonder why.
