Not sure if it was because it was the peak of my BMW fanboyism but I love all those generation of bmw, 3,5 and 7.

I've seen this car in person and it was the inspiration for me in both getting an E9 and then what to do with it.

I attended the the BMWCCA Oktoberfest and companion Historic Races in Monterey in 2016 (100 year anniversary of BMW) and I saw it at various events on the Peninsula that season (Legends, races, Carmel...
Before I saw it, I had (kind of) based what I wanted to do with my CS after that car. The pics do not do it justice. I had seen pictures of it for many years (actually - there was a web site devoted to its build - and had lots of awesome info in it). But seeing it in person - IT was simply stunning. The attention to detail was awesome - both mechanically as well as with the rest. While I would not maybe have had the same color interior or done a few of the other things that were there - I didn't care...
It was just awesome. The builder (Paul Cain) did that some time ago - and I had forgotten he sold it. That next owner is (I guess) selling it now.

This "3.8CSi" is probably, next to Murray's 400,000 mile 2800CS (LINK and LINK), probably the most famous non-CSL E9.

Will be interesting to see what it fetches...

Nice looking estoril M3/4 converted to manual here. Dove interior is kind of meh but it’s hard to find estoril with anything else.

And check out the 1998 vintage accessory nav unit! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these.

I'd take this M5 Touring, even with the ugly interior.

Interesting to read the road and track article linked to the listing. Crazy how fast abd powerful modern cars have gotten; 0-60 in 6.4 seconds with 265 ft-lbs of torque wouldn’t even cut it for a base 3 series these days. But the e34 m5 was a special car in a way that no modern bmw is.

I had no idea these were available in a W8 or manual.

Yes, I remember when those came out--they seemed like a maintenance nightmare then, and it's hard to imagine getting one now. But it's a pretty cool unicorn, especially if the production numbers (95 or so cars) are correct.

I got to ride in a guy’s W8 manual sedan. Not as rare as the wagon but it was pretty quick and made a nice sound but yeah not out of warranty.

I have a friend who knew an executive with VW who owned one of the W8 sedans. His advise to my friend was to buy a BMW. This was probably about 2005 or so.

My friend bought a 3 wagon: a used e46 wagon—RWD.
