Ooof, really? In those teeny-tiny little service areas, that are barely more than an expanded shoulder? Any lines could be a real problem in those.

I take the Saw Mill north then across South Salem (route 35) through Ridgefield, then Redding where I live. As it is, I fill the Merc up once every two weeks - takes five minutes, the car cost me under 10 grand. |

I'm not quite sure why this isn't really obvious to all but this car is intended to be a high-end commuter car. Home to work, work to home. Plug in overnight. Repeat.
Roadtrips are not intended to be the primary function. The superchargers are placed to allow for strategic roadtrips along the main travel corridors to get you to another place where you have a adequate overnight charging source. And those trips would largely be between urban areas - no trips to the sticks. Which is how I suspect *most* people use their daily drivers 90+% of the time - commuting and main artery road trips. |

It doesn't have to be a viable option for everything, but at the price, I'd want it to be at least as viable as a full sized luxury sedan it'd be likely replacing. I could get a Nissan Leaf for around town electric car stuff where the garage plugin as sole refueling station would suffice. I never said it "shouldn't be produced at all" ??? |

I don't really pay attention to marketing - didn't realize you were so easily influenced. Quote:

To me, I just don't understand paying a huge price tag for a car that ties you to fuel stops and charging stations and essentially takes away the ingredient we all like most about driving, which is freedom. A current Accord Hybrid, or VWTDI allows you the freedom to go more places with less worry about fuel stops, AND gives you great commuter mileage as well. Yet people, some with means, perhaps some stretching their wallets to do so, are flocking to the Tesla, and I don't understand the "draw" (except it is pretty). I just don't get it, but that's me. |

Oh, right, because auto manufacturers don't partner with outside tech companies to bring innovative things to market.
