I'm keeping an eye on the rulebook before I officially decide what I'm doing this year.
My non-local schedule minimum would be

NJ Pro
Spring Nats (both)
Toledo Pro
Finale/Nats

I also want to do Pittsburgh Match and the Bristol Match and Champ Tours, but I'd cut them pretty easily.

If time and other things made them possible, I'd add Ft Myers and Oscoda Pros (and possibly swap Pitt for Blytheville Pro) and maybe Charlotte Match.

I wouldn't really expect myself to be "happier" in a turbo Camaro, which would also be pretty low spec, but it would be different that where I'm at. Going in with a 1-2 year expectation would help offset any negatives if it seems like a mistake quickly. And I could get out and correct without losing a lot of money if it was that bad.

Listing claims it was a trade for a ZL1, which makes me guess it was broken in hard, but who cares as long as it wasn't bent.

aaarrrgggghhhh
That seems super cheap even used. I priced out a 2018 mustang the way I would want it and it was almost $50k. That’s M2 territory.

I'd really like to do Spring Nats again. It sort of depends if anyone else shows up in DSP. If not, I'm not sure I see the point, although I still don't have a good setup for the car for Lincoln (2017 results notwithstanding). It was a handful throughout Nationals.

I'm planning on:

Dixie Tour (don't think I'll ever miss this one again, might have been my favorite event all year)
NJ Pro
Toledo Pro
Oscoda Pro
Finale / Nats

The "maybe" list includes Bristol, Spring Nats (both) and the Toledo Tour.

The turbo is looking much more attractive as a 1 or 2 year option. Better, maybe keeping the FoST another year and finding a codrive.

I really want out of the FoST now. Just done.
Can't you just sell all the cars moldering in the driveway (and the FoST) and get one car you like?

I wish I could swing that many this year! I'll be at Pitt (karting alone is worth it for me), Charlotte, and Seneca NY event. The only others I might add would be NJ and Nationals, but our house re-construction will keep me local.

A turbo Camaro can be had for what now, $15-20k?

The 18 Mustang has a lot of appeal to me, too. Except the cost.

The 1LE I just linked is a fantastic price, but I've seen a couple other sub $40k used 1LEs in the past couple months. This is the first '18, though.

You mean what's going to pay for my wife's new car next summer? Plus, I figure the FoST is worth about $12 as a trade. The XK8, $8 and the Miata, maybe $2.

Taking care of the house is always a good call. The national schedule looks pretty fantastic for anyone living in the mid Atlantic and its spread out from March to September. I think one year we did four national events over five consecutive weekends in the spring/early summer and then nothing until Nationals.

On paper, the 1LS is the right car. The 1LT add weight and stuff. Not sure how much, though. The problem with used 1LSs is there aren't very many of them. I wouldn't want to pay more than about $16k for a 2016 1LS, but would go as much as $17k this weekend just to get it done if my wife said "ok" in a "i really mean it's ok" kind of way and not in a "do whatever the fuck you want, but don't expect me to be happy about it" kind of way. But that's not going to happen this weekend so I should stop thinking that it could.

Was thinking about this on the way home. I paid about $27k for it new in January 2013 and it’ll hit 68k next week or the week after. At a $12k trade or maybe $13.5k private sale, that’s pretty close to 45%-50% range. I think my original planning assumed 35% at this point (because, you know, Ford and Focus) with a little less mileage. So, that’s good.

Wife is on board with a Camaro purchase.

As long as the Miata or Jag is gone first.

And I throw out, sell, or give away a bunch of shit from around the house. First.

Plus, she reserves the right to make fun of me and my douchey Camaro in front of or behind my back with friends, family and neighbors.

In other words, as long as I pay for it, she has no objection.
