I don't have room for an f150. My upper street and garage area are very, very tight. The f10 feels like an elephant, I want nothing bigger than a Wrangler or Tacoma. Absolutely.

Good point on the utility trailer. That is much better than a bed for a blower, goes to show how I'm inexperienced with this, I've never used or handled a blower, but I know I need one. That said, bed would help my endless home & garden to do's. Yes, contractors have trucks, but one of the best guys I'm using is local and doesn't have a truck, he works a regular job in the week and is free on the weekends and I end up carrying the materials.

I'm open to a Jeep, very much so. Have never driven one, but I love how they look. Had some concerns on their 2011+ v6 engine having head casting issues and general build quality compared to a Toyota. Also no desire to open this truck up as I already have a convertible. Would like as hard a top as I can get on the Jeep.

I want a manual, I don't need to justify that. I hated my X5 auto. I don't think the tacoma/jeep/??? will fall into the x5 trap as I won't think of it as a failed bmw. At the time I had an e39 and it was the better car. Right now, the f10 is. The taco/jeep/?? will be apples and oranges to a bmw.

Nope on "walking" the snowblower. The stairs through the property are super steep. The "walk" around the block without stairs is nearly 0.5 miles. I can't push a snowblower 0.5 miles through unplowed sidewalks. No go. I don't have much driveway to blow. I have 40ft of sidewalk on each side as well as three garage fronts. Utility trailer it is.

I also see this as complementing the GTI. Hence the desire for 4wd. I'm still in love with the value it represents and how that car comes together as a whole, the gestalt. It was brilliant.

I guess a longer Wrangler, what are they called, Limited, Unlimited? and a trailer would take care of most of my needs.

Edit: just read your last post that it's a no-go. But I'll leave this here anyway just for fun.

What is the terrain like where you need to get the snow blower back and forth? Could the snowblower make it if it had tracks? I recently drove mine down a crazy steep slope through the snowy woods just to see if it could get down there and back up. It was no problem at all.

I'm as big of a fan of snow blowers as the next guy, but loading it onto a trailer every storm seems like a pain in the ass. Hiring a service might make sense here?

Isn't Wrangler about to introduce a pick up version?

I'm all about doing things myself when I'm able, but I'm completely with rumatt here. Playing musical snowblowers just to clear a sidewalk would be an unnecessary PITA. I'd even much sooner grab a shovel, or find a neighborhood kid looking to earn a few bucks.

Maybe it's too early and I don't understand what's going on, but loading a snowblower into a trailer every time it storms? No. Hire someone.

I missed it the first time, but I just realized that we're only talking 40 feet of sidewalk. It would take longer to load your snowblower than to shovel it.

I bet it's hard to find someone to even bother with that.

Good points.

I've done this for two storms now. The last storm took hours and hours to clear. If I add it up, maybe eight.. There is a part - a long, steep staircase in the property - that has to be shoveled by hand. So that's a few hours of sufficient exercise. Any more, is too much for my back and my taste.

Shovel? No chance. I'd buy two snowblowers first.

But I'd hire someone before that. There's got to be a kid or someone else up there with a snowblower who would do it for a reasonable price.

And then you'd have to build a second garage in the front yard to put the second snowblower in! And you might as well put a lift in that one too, in case the car breaks down in the front yard, instead of the back yard.
