2000 323i climate blower trouble.
My brother-in-law's climate blower stays on sometimes when he turns his car off, other times, he has no control over it and it will speed up, and down and do all kinds of weird shit, and other times it works fine.
It is out of warranty and is curious if anyone has any suggestions. He says he can sometimes get it right by turning it off and on, and other times it won't even respond to the button. |

End stage resistor problem. Cheap to fix.
Let me know if you need some more help.

We can all probably walk you (him?) through the process. It's pretty simple once you locate the unit on the car.
The final stage resistor all seem to go at some point. Mine went (on my M3) last summer. |

When these units failed en mass in the summer of 2001, there were none available for several months, and we had people calling all the time asking if the parts were available. Each day, we got more and more calls to add people to the list. Many people were not happy about having their car's AC dead during the summer. The following year (2002), it was the IHKA module on the E36s that shit the bed, and lots of E36 owners went without AC all summer. Ironically enough, the professor of a sociology course I took this fall was one of the "victims", so every time I had class on a warm day, I would remember her showing up at the dealership every week the summer before to inquire on whether or not we had gotten the part in yet.
