a used Tesla Model S that had a base price of $79,900 is worth an average of $99,734 used

True enough, but my car isn't for sale new anymore. That's a major difference.

So. How soon do we forget? Anyone remember the first few years of the MINI being available? I don't know if the Tesla supply can't meet the demand, but it's not unheard of for this type of thing to happen. I am sure the used market will make sense in a year or two.

+1

As the newness wears off a bit (and it will to some degree) and as they better balance supply with demand, this will naturally correct itself. But enjoy it now if you can.

If range is continually improved, that should also add more downward pressure on used prices.

Can't tell if this is a deal or not. No idea as to options.
So since I clicked through to that ad I've been bombarded by used Tesla ads, which teach me two things:

1) That asking price is actually kind of low, based on what I'm seeing elsewhere, like, e.g., this S60 http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...CRTpdBFBcusdyb

2) One of the most important--if not the most important--questions to ask when looking at a used Tesla is "what size battery does it have?" Why is it that none of the ads I'm seeing contain this information? I've had to decipher it from the VIN.

Wow... That's more that I paid for mine new. Since its a Jan 2013 production, it has air suspension (non-air went into production in March '13), and you can see the 21"s on it -- which I don't have. But adjusting for those means they are asking new car money. And used buyers don't get the tax break...

As for not listing the battery size -- they probably leave that off for the same reason engine size (I4 vs V6 Accords for example) are also left off. Hoping people will think its the bigger size so they can sell it for more $$$...

I think they probably leave it off because dealers just don't care. Like how they don't bother listing the correct transmission, or most of the time, any of the other options in general.
