What you need is an E30.

Possibly with an S54 in it, if you just can't live without the power.

I think I need your yellow car with a faster steering rack.

Why not a Cayman? You seem to love the Boxster, other than the top.

People like to put the ZHP rack in.

I rode in Kam's Z4M once and liked its power delivery a lot, but it seemed pretty weird on corner entry (though could have been driving style, setup, etc). They would have to drop a bit more in price, but I tend to like the ugly duckling type cars.
I drove a stock BRZ a while back. It was one of the most fun cars I've driven, despite the engine. It's handling reminded me of a base Cayman, even more chuckable just plain fun. It's not ideal for me because of power/NVH/4-cylinder but man is it fun a chassis. I've driven miatas a few times, I've never liked them the way I liked an RX8 or a BRZ which are memorable. I have not tried the ND.

I have only passing experience with the Z4M. I have owned cars that "bracket" it, the 06 Cayman S and the e46 m3 .I don't see the point of the Z4M for me.

In the z4 line, my favorite was the z4 3.0si with the 255hp engine, but not the coupe which was an afterthought to the z4.

My answer to this is Porsches. I really want to want a boxster s for my next car. It seems so logical and everyone raves about it. But every time I drive one, I don't enjoy it like I think I should. Heck, I get a ton more smiles driving my 135 than I do from my buddy's 987.2. I keep borrowing it trying to sway my opinion, but I always am happy giving it back and swapping back into my 1er.

911s are the same (although I haven't driven one recently), so many accolades that my right brain says this must be great. My left brain however, says the looks and sounds of an AMV8 are so much more appealing.

In the spirit of wanting to want vs actually wanting.

I've been driving the Colorado as a daily for several weeks now until I get the E46 brakes figured out. I've come to the conclusion that I quite enjoy driving the damn thing. It's heavy, it leans like crazy, it's steering is light, it's rough over bumps, and in corners the back jumps around violently if it's bumpy.

But for whatever reason.. I look forward to driving it and it puts a smile on my face. Don't ask me to explain why, because I can't.

It just goes to show that reality can be very different from what the car mags tell us we should want.

Nope.

I never leave the house thinking, "I wish I had a car that can handle these curves at 3/10ths its limit intead of 5/10ths."
