Love hearing this. Boxster in my future!

It’s worth it.

It’s not too heavy or sloppy. It’s also not too large as the new 911 tends to be.

Agree. The 911 is a lovely car, arguably a better daily, but for pure fun the Boxster and Cayman are hard to beat.

What’s your take these days? You owned a cayman and a boxster.

Is the cayman sharper dynamically?

My spouse is a convertible person. So the cayman was never in the running.

But for me, I’m opposite.

Not that this was directed at me, but the feel of the 911 doesn't do it for me. Especially now that the Boxster and Cayman have "enough" power.

I really need to go drive a Cayman. I think the thing that bugs me the most about the Boxster are specific to it being a convertible. But... only one way to find out.

I read somewhere that they're going to apply the 911T formula to the Cayman, which sounds about perfect.

Is the base cayman engine any good? Seems like the S with the bigger displacement and variable vane turbo is the one you want.(if you are ok with subie sounding 4 cylinder)

Didn't you drive a 718 and think the engine was shit?

Well, weighted over the years, I've been more cayman than boxster.

My spouse definitely prefers riding in the boxster. And it adds different pleasures. We live in the city. Dropping the top down when we get to the countryside means we "feel" it more, it's more about the environment around you. Top down at 85mph on the highway is a bit like a motorcycle. You need a hat and maybe even gloves... Stuff like that.

Dynamically, the cayman is just a bit sharper. It may not even translate to faster times, but the feel is undeniable.

I think there are more important qualities to consider besides ultimate performance. That, of course, is why I drive an M240 convertible rather than an M2--or whatever is more uber than that.
