TD,

Jimmy and I finally drove the R32, he might write up a detailed review later, but one quick thing I must say is that the DBW on that car is worse than any BMW I've driven. I recall the DBW on your 330i was one of the reasons you sold it for your E36 M3/4, so I'm surprised you liked the R32 that much. A simple chip would probably get rid of the LONG throttle delay, but stock I will have to get used to it to drive the car smoothly.

The DBW delay was most noticeable when shifting at close to redline, the car continues to give it more gas when clutch is depressed, thus further reving the engine/flywheel up. I thought it was due to a super heavy FW, but after talking to a master tech in the back, he told us it was the DBW. The tech himself has an R32.

Here's a pic from our R32 testdrive. Jimmy and I brought our helmets to make sure we fit comfortable in it.

Detailed review of the car, though from a hardly unbiased source:

the R32 will be worth the money when the golf V's start to arrive and they discount it with $3000-4000 incentives a la w8 passat and the phaeton.

then it would be a GREAT car.

right now i think it's a good car.

This is bad.
Anyone catch Kitman's column on the R32 in this month's automobile? It was fawning. He dubbed it an "instant classic."

What a lovely sound the GT makes. I could listen to that sound all day long...
