There is little wrong with having an e39 m5. 2000's are less desirable and the miles aren't low, but for the right price, that'd be a great car.

yeah the key is the price. Looks like maintenance has been done so ready to drive but that high mileage will limit your resale value. Basically buy it to drive it.

Not sure if could handle the red interior, I like the imola exterior.

Exactly. I’m right on that same line with all maintenance done as soon as it happens but with 102k on the clock I can’t expect to much. Then again ones not so nice with needs are still going for $16-17.

I love the Imola M5, but the red in the interior kills it for me. Also people would think I have some sort of unhealthy obsession with the color red...

Red interior is tough. But for the right price, if it is mechanically sound, why not? Like I said, it's not as if I'll put a lot of miles on it.

Anyway, so you guys think this is more of a 20-25k car?

No. Mostly under 75k 02,03’s with no current issue cars seem to go for more. Take a look at the sales history on BaT.

if you are not going to put a lot of miles on it I would get a nicer lower mileage like Theo mentioned.

In a reasonable world, that would be a sub-$20k car. At this point of $36k e36 m3 sedans, low mileage but otherwise not special, I have no idea what anything is *worth* anymore.

I would need to do much reading to understand what I am getting into with an E39 M5 but I'd only drive it a 3-5k miles per year. It's bound to hold its value well, no?

The lure of Imola is strong.
Another Imola M...
