Congrats! I think you made a good choice - nicely equipped new car and $25k savings probably makes you feel a little more comfortable keeping the 240. Win/win.

Thanks, guys. There’s actually a measure of delight in this car. The fancy SUVs just up the ante on luxury and a bit more performance, perhaps, but for a price that just doesn’t make sense to me now.

It’s definitely an adjustment to a new lifestyle. But, this doesn’t feel like a hardship or a sacrifice, which is nice.

Letting my 2 go would have been a major sacrifice. Thank goodness I’m lucky enough that I don’t have to do that yet.

It's kind of amazing to me that both of our overthought sagas concluded within 24 hours of each other.

Right? So funny.

I was basically holding on to see if any miraculous BMW deals for December could sway me to the dark side. Nope.

And I actually had an efficient Mazda salesman (as opposed to the lame baby BMW salesman).

You and I are were both very ready to get these cars.

And for my part, I was wondering how I would get a Christmas tree home in the 2. (I know they deliver.)

Just nice to have independence and flexibility back in my life. And because the 2 is so spartan in features, the Mazda feels pretty luxurious to me.

Now I have to fight my son for the spare garage bay (he’s set it up as a gym...) But, since it’s a Mazda, I’m not bent out of shape parking it outside,

Congrats! I wonder if your active cruise control learning curve will be like mine in Jutta's new Fusion . . . .I spent a few trips with my foot hovering over the brake pedal. Now I don't bother

Wow - congrats! The CX5 seems like a great choice and one that I remember you came back to several times during your decision making process. It’s hard to beat that combo of features, practicality, looks, price and driving dynamics I think. You must be relieved!

I just built one online - that's a TON of car for the money. I really like it.

Thanks guys!

The value for performance/amenities quotient is really high in this car. I like the looks, too.

(One caveat: Reading through the manual, accessing the tech does seem unnecessarily complicated/convoluted. Lots of stuff you have to set through buttons and switches and multiple steps not governed by the center control unit. I’m sure I will really appreciate the ease of iDrive, when I’m done mastering the Mazda way.)

Not only am I relieved not to obsess about this decision anymore, there is also something attractive about having a vanilla car that doesn’t attract attention and trigger associations...

I think it will do nicely until I’m ready to go electric.

And thank you all for your support/great advice through this whole process!
