The GTI doesn't need that much more power (though an additional 30 or 40 would be nice). What the GTI needs is (available) AWD. Same is true of the A3 2.0T. Why VAG doesn't offer that combo on anything other than the TT is baffling to me.

if you got this month's C&D and R&T magazines, there is a blurb in there about how the TT-S is coming to the US. and the TT-RS is also coming. and that the TT is now considered by Audi to be a "serious sports car" that can take on the Cayman.



the TT-S weighs 3300 pounds. it's got about 280hp from the 2.0T & awd, but i do believe it's still awkward, like the GTI, in its weight distribution.

IOW, their strategy is to not poach sales from the TT, i guess?
