what size snow tires are you running on the yellow bird, JV?

(i'm slowly becoming a snow tire convert as the cold weather has set in for the duration here in NE).

Definitely one of the most fun cars I've ever autocrossed. Even on crappy street tires. The back end just loves to rotate and the slip angles are very easy to feel. I didn't drive particularly well - I was having too much fun sliding the thing around - but the car has a lot of potential.

there is a reason why they tend to dominate the auto-x circuits.

Well that's the thing - they haven't. They did well for a year before the S2000 got developed, but nobody has seriously prepped one in many years.

It does piss me off that Porsche never offered these cars with limited-slip differentials.

wait a second.....you cannot get an LSD from tequipment or from a binned 911? i'm sure all 911 drivetrain parts (for the most part) will fit right into the boxster drivetrain.

The key is that an LSD wasn't offered stock. There are certainly LSD options if I don't care about staying stock. But there is no non-stock class where the Boxster is remotely competitive.

I would need to put some 710s on the car to determine if it's more fun than the RX-8. As it stands, the Boxster has some distinct fun-factor advantages over the RX-8. It can be steered with the throttle at low speeds. It rotates more predictably and is easier to recover. It has higher spring rates and better roll control.

oops. i keep forgetting how important it is to remain as OEM as possible to stay in the proper class.

it would be enormously useful to have you or Clyde run the same course in both the '8 and the boxster.
