Roundel compares Golf R and 328

The latest issue of Roundel compares a Golf R and a 328i sport line, and concludes that the Golf has better steering feel and overall is more fun to drive on twisty back roads.

Sigh, BMW. Sigh.

VW is heading in the right direction with lighter, better handling cars. BMW is heading in a slightly different direction.

The Golf R does it for a lot less money, too.

Not fair, I know, but after driving the TT I got on the E91 ("m-Sport" mind you) and it felt like a cushy oldsmobile. And the E91 I have is a pretty damn nice car with good steering and a reasonably sporty suspension.

Yes. To get a 328i Sportline equipped with the features of a Golf R 4 Door Nav the difference in price is over $15,000. It's quite unbelievable. A 328i Sportline with those options stickers at $52,000.

I gotta be honest, the BMW prices (all nice sports sedans for that matter) drove me to pick up the P-car. I mean, seriously, $50k for a nice 328i? Never mind the M3 sedan I was hoping to consider. What would that be, $70k? F that.
