The front bumper would be too.

But I've only had the Miata and 987, both of which had excellent, very easy to use tops. And I LOVED that the 987 could close its roof on the move - which I could also do manually on the Miata. I think the Spyder's roof will eventually annoy the heck out of me. The rear clamshell is a PITA and apparently you cannot access the rear trunk with the roof up.

Anyhow, beyond roof mechanics, I do see this used as a weekend getaway car, so ultimately, a GTS is a better fit. It just irks me to give up the looks and that everything is a bit sharper (suspension, shorter shifter throws, slightly better exhaust, more revs, more power). And again, for not much more money.
At the price for which a Spyder is available, you’re already at GTS money. So get the GTS. It is more special undoubtedly.

This is true.

Edit: Doesn't look too painful. https://www.718forum.com/threads/con...0/#post-226147

Not sure which thread to post on this since we have 2 threads with the same topic

Those who are ordering, what are you hearing as far as time frame ...

I am curious because I just spoke to a second dealer (whom is one of the larger Long Island dealers) who I was thinking of putting a deposit down on the 992 to see which dealer gets the allocation first and they are showing 10 months for a 992 S Coupe allocation.

The Boxster GTS they said was 8-10 months away before an allocation becomes available though the Cayman GTS they have a Feb/March Allocation available.

So basically Boxster GTS's and 992's at this point will be 2023's and are pretty far away, it is hard to think of colors, configurations, etc when waiting that long just to put an order in

I kind of think about it as put the name down and forget it until you get a call it is time.

None of the dealers I talked to would commit to a date to get off the waiting list. I don't think they know. Doesn't bother me. But then I don't buy a new car every year

Yes, same here. The general answer from all of them was "probably within the year, maybe sooner, but we don't know until Porsche tells us how many cars we're getting."

It does make it hard to plan and hard to get sort of into it, but...if they don't know, they don't know.

That hard part for me is that if I could pick with certainty, I'd honestly get the car as Euro Delivery in Spring 2023. Considering the next Boxster doesn't come out until 2025, I should have no problem waiting. But who is to say exactly what will happen and if all allocations won't be snagged so close to end of production.

I know that pulling the trigger right now is not something I want to do for many reasons. The earliest would be 6 months from now.

I was offered an allocation right now. As in, get your car in time for New Years! That's way too soon for me. Meanwhile other (local) dealers say "who knows? It will be a while."

Me too. But no allocation yet, just a wait list.

EDIT: Wow, FC, that is fast. Interesting that the dealers were in different positions on that front. All dealers in Boston?
