That car is screaming out for some vintage Recaros anyway. But finding a replacement dash would be no fun.

Covers a cheap, but a new dash looks like a $300ish part from a few places.
Wonder if the cracked one could be used as a template for a 3d print?

Well that's cool. I figured a dashboard would be an NLA kind of thing. I suppose carpets are available as well?

The lower dash might not -- with the US knee padding requirements (which I believe were required starting by the late 70s)...

Will it have a dedicated garage spot? Are you looking for perfection (carfection?) or a fun simpl-ish car to run/drift around in? You can be 'not correct' in the interior, buy some nice cloth recaros and still have fun.

No, vintage Recaros are def the right call for this car. The RS500 front end, too, if you can find it for reasonable money; same with the monster wing the Cossies had.
Obviously wouldn’t need or want it to be perfect, though an uncracked dash would be nice. |

There thread reminds me that there was a really nice Scorpio sold on Cars and Bids back in November.
Maybe you'll get lucky and have another pop up. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KmY...merkur-scorpio

It's hilarious too how ahead of their time they were, form-factor wise. The 5 door hatch was amazingly versatile but no one wanted it for whatever reason; now 5 door hatches are at least as common as sedans, if not more so. It was really amusing to drive one back-to-back with a SHO Taurus. The SHO was a monster hot rod, with goofy torque steer and a pedestrian interior; the Scorpio was like the exact opposite, but it just didn't have the motor (or the transmission) to be exciting. At the time I remember being mystified by Ford's decision not to fit the SHO V6 or the 302 in the Scorpio. I still am, sort of. |

Thanks for reminding me of the SHO. God that was an awful car. One of two cars I've owned that I don't miss at all

I think if I'd won that Scorpio I would have gotten this comment from the auction printed on a giant sticker and worn it like a badge of honor.
