So the earnings report brought some option changes. Big news? No more AWD 60. No more RWD P85. Also color and trim changes (brown and green gone).

Makes me wish I'd gone ahead and gotten the P85.

I hadn't seen that.

I'm guessing the 60D had very little take-up over the last month -- so they pulled a 40 on it. Makes me wonder if they will produce a few to fill orders...

Not that surprised about brown and green going away. I've seen a few in each color (and I kind of like the brown), but they obviously didn't sell well.

But I am surprised the regular P85 is gone. I could see orders dropping off as the "gotta have the newest / highest spec car" crowd definitely jumped on the P85D over the last month. But I have to think it leaves a gap in their lineup... Maybe they'll bring it back at some point?

I'm surprised they didn't introduce some new colors, but I guess demand for (ongoing) sales isn't really a problem at this point.

I spent an hour with a P85+ at the Freemont factory on Saturday. It was awesome.

Most of the Model S's sold thus far were P85+. Tesla (rightly) figures that the P85D will fulfill that demand now, making the + redundant. Also, most p85+ purchasers check every option that's not already included.

Most of the Model S's sold, or most of the P85s?

I've heard most of the Model S's sold are P85+.

Edit: maybe it was that most were P85 (+ and non+). I can't remember.

Edit #2: looking back, it appears that average selling price per Model S was ~$109K not too long ago.

Given that they build these cars based on actual customer orders, and they already did the development work, I'm not sure I understand the point of discontinuing those models. If only 1 person orders it, it still shouldn't really matter to them...
