Porsche battery maintainers and car cover for 718

I bought this battery maintainer from stuka, IIRC, back when I had the OG white 987S. I imagine it dates back to his yellow 996 GT2.

Is this ok to use on the 718?

Suncoast lists the newer one, but are they functionally different?

https://www.suncoastparts.com/catego...EEXTCOVER.html

Also, on covers (coincidentally listed on the same page), I see no reason to get anything other than the "Premium Indoor Cover - 718." Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm no so in love with how tight-fitting it appears to be.

No comment on the older charger. Assuming the 718 has a normal lead/acid (not lithium or something fancy) battery I think it would be fine, but others will know better. Is the cig lighter port always on with the newer Porsches?

I have the indoor cover for the 991. It's very nice. I would definitely recommend. I posted pics somewhere I. The 911 thread, but it is nice material, fits perfectly and looks pretty cool

FC, #2 is produced by CTEK for all the European manufacturers. One is simply paying for the labeling/marketing from the manufacturer. I have used the one below on all my autos for years. No issues…

Edit: I have the indoor car cover from Porsche for the 997.2. I will not purchase another one for the Carrera T. They are not worth it… I purchased it from Suncoast. It is definitely nothing extravagant given what they cost.

Thanks. So I should not use the older Porsche maintainer, then?

I could easily throw a large sheet over the car. I just don’t want crap from bugs on it and layers of dust on the soft top. I only need a lightweight cover.

I wouldn’t. I am guessing the 718 has a AGM battery. Any chance the GTS gets the LiPo battery?

The Porsche indoor cover is very lightweight. The sewing, more specifically some of the seams are less than ideal. Truthfully I will be surprised if it last 5+ years.

Seems like it’s an AGM battery. I won’t risk it and get the new one from CTEK.

Shame about the cover. It sure looks good.

I have a CTEK 5.0 that I highly recommend for any regular or AGM battery, just no lithium.

I'm going on 4 years with the cover for the 991 and it looks brand new. I guess my experience is different. I use the ctek maintainer wired directly to the battery. For some reason the idea of charging through the cig lighter makes me uncomfortable.

This is a timely post as I need to go disconnect the battery in the 987 for the winter. I rent a garage spot in a condo building and I don't think there are any convenient outlets to plug into unfortunately.

Regarding covers, I ended up buying the Porsche outdoor cover even though the car is garaged.
