C&D's estimates for the value of the cars that fell in. More than the actual monetary value, the significance and rarity of some of those Vettes are what really make the story a sad one. Heartening to hear that they plan to rescue these cars and restore them, although some of them might not be worth the trouble (except for the fact that they fell into a sinkhole).

It also makes me want to buy a Corvette...

I remember visiting the museum with my father. I have never been a big fan but still appreciate the fact they are an American sports car. I found the factory tour much more interesting. The contrast between GM plant and BMW plant in SC was striking.
