New tires for truck

My 2004 tundra needs new tires. I'd like to get something decent after hating the awful Firestones it came with. It mostly sees highway use but deep snow capability is also important. Any of the resident truck guys have any thoughts?

I'm pretty ambivalent about my Bridgestone Revo2s. (Load Range E variety.) They have excellent traction, but they are lousy for towing - I'm forced to run them at 80psi (max load recommended pressure) in order to have a reasonably stable feel. The stock crap tires had low traction, but were great towing even at 50psi.

I'm running Hankook Dynapro ATM (load E) on the Dodge. They are a HUGE improvement of the downright scary Bridgestone Long Trail tires that it came with. I didn't drive it in the snow, but they are really good in the rain. No complaints.

The Jeep currently has the Michelin LTX AT2. They had absolutely no problem in the rediculous blizzard a couple winters ago - the Jeep plowed through snow drifts up to the hood and never once struggled for traction. They are not as good in the dry as the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo that I had before, but they work well enough and I have no real complaints.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I had several sets of the Revos and they each only lasted ~30k miles.

For what they are, they're pretty quiet on the highway. Snow traction is good; I haven't gotten stuck yet, but then again, the use of 4WD could certainly be the cause of that.

They are rated to 80,000 miles (iirc). And it certainly looks like I'm on my way there judging from the wear patterns (or lack thereof).

I've run over the last 20 years Michelin LTX's and love them.
I have had them in both the LT and P varieties.

Solid, quiet, good traction and tread life.

I see they have a 'winter' version available...

No first hand experience, but... I do like the 'regular' flavor.
Limeted sizes though.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm pretty torn about what tires to get due to the fact that I use the truck for 500 mile round trips a few times a month. However, those trips are going to end in a year, and I definitely want a tire with some great snow traction.

If I were to go with something like Nick suggested, would my highway ride or gas mileage be noticeably worse than with my current Firestone all season truck tires?

Well, I have no experience with Firestone all season truck tires, but I'd be willing to bet that the Revo would not degrade the ride - it's a really good tire IMO. And wtf it's a truck anyways right.

Just be warned that they don't last very long.

The Revos ride great - quite possibly why they don't tow so well.

The BFG All-terrains are a good solid all-around truck tire and they have a good life to them. Might be more of an aggressive tread pattern than you need, though there isn't much of a downside that I know of.

If I had a less off-road oriented need these are what I'd be running regardless of Jeep, Truck, SUV or anything.
