Then I wake up and realize I used to do that. The old Mercedes diesels are nice, but... Time to move on.
Still thinking about Ted's E39 M5.... or the one in Portland on BaT. That one looks nice too.
My mom had one of those in the early 80's without the turbo ... all I remember is it being very loud, very slow though it was solid as hell !! Oh and it had a plug so you could warmup the block so it would start in the winter.

Our family had W116 and W126 300SD's (1979 and 1984). I ended up getting the 84 in 1992 (as a wedding present). They are the literal expression of the vehicular bank vault. Between the two cars, we put probably 1/2 million miles on them.

I do miss the simplicity - ruggedness - comfortableness - safety - durability - slowness (actually - I do miss that sometimes)....... then I wake up and realize that times have moved on.

But - for a slow jaunt around the countryside on a summer day with a picnic in the trunk (with LOTS of stuff.... lol - long story) - they are truly awesome machines.

Thanks everyone - just a bit over 2 hours till this one closes.
And just now the firewall at work is blocking this one specific listing on BaT... other auctions come through. I have to use my phone now. LOVELY... lol. Oh well - that works too.
