Wow! Changing out the black wheels for the bi-color wheels literally changes everything!

The UK configurator is up: https://configure.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/co...?expanded=true

Edit: added screenshots.

I HATE black wheels. I think it looks pretty good in the context of today's car styling. I'd have to think long and hard about why to get one of these over a boxster/cayman, but the inline 6 is way better than the turbo 4 in the same price class. It looks like another solid addition to the 2 door BMW performance daily driver lineage. This (and the x5 now) is the car BMW has always done best with.

I suppose I have answered my own question regarding red versus blue calipers.

Edit: I really wish Brooklyn Grey wasn’t so dull in person, especially given that it is a metallic color. If it wasn’t that would be the route I would go.

Boxster/Cayman isn’t practical at all either. This car would seem to be more practical for most intents and purposes and for how people would use their cars.

But for the best BMW driver car, looks like this is it?

The sunroof on the G87 is 20% larger than the previous model. Hmm… tempting. I think if you get the black interior almost need the sunroof for natural light to avoid the cave feeling. With the carbon fiber roof you get the cognac to lighten things up.

That cognac interior looks great. Especially in a smallish car, I find black interiors can be a bit clausterphobic and extra hot in the sun.

When will cars be available to test drive? Since you're so high on the list, will you get any special access to the one on display at the M fest this weekend?

Agreed.

I don’t forsee test drives happening anytime soon. It launches in April. People will be purchasing them without ever driving one and that will happen for quite some time as the majority of units coming in will be priority ones, sold units. Even if someone backs out of their build it’s highly doubtful that a dealer is going to let someone(s) test drive it. The only way I see that changing is if the economy tanks.

I am deposited for allocation number one.

fwiw I've never opened the sunroof yet (not even slid the fabric liner back), and I've not felt claustrophobic.

Although I'm just not a sunroof guy. Never use them.

Also have an appointment for tint in a few weeks finally. It does get hot sitting outside at work (the back of the ID8 screen especially), even with a sunshade on the windshield.
