'feel the same exact way about the z4.

'cept i think the GTO is going to grow because it is a cheap corvette and car guys know it's easy to put in corvette OHV engine parts and get a sleeper.

lots of lemmings and poseurs are likely wishing they got the 911-lite/boxster 'sted of the z4.

Saw one the other day for the first time. Just when you thought GM couldn't make a car look any more boring. This thing is worse than the latest Lumina.

It's as plain as they come. In fact I have not seen one, but maybe I did, just didn't notice it.

Very true. I have seen a couple of them and (at first) I thought they were a Grand Prix or the like. Granted, it's not the most exciting car, but.... You buy it for what's under the hood.

It seems like a GREAT car to buy used after a couple of years for pennies on the dollar and turn into a monster. But I'm not into that.

CSL does the 60 in about 4.8 BMW published, 4.6 tested by mags.

Comparing a Lingenfelter GTO to a factory BMW is not exactly fair. I think a fair comparison would be the Lingenfelter to the Hartge M3 with the massive M5 motor, which hits 60 in about 4.4.

no, no, no.

of course, it isn't a fair comparison! i know, HACK. it actually is a reverse compliment to BMW that its OEM vehicles are that fast.

but i was wondering because the GTO is pretty easy to tune since it's just buckets and pushrods. a lot harder to come by those sorts of power gains on any BMWs. the LPE GTO is basically an australian version of a 6 series and while the 6 series looks less odd more and more, i'd still take the GTO because of the corvette engine. more fun.
