I also wouldn't worry too much about finishing with what you have on hand and, at most, plan on changing the oil a little earlier next time.
Thanks. That was my thinking. Everett is nowhere near me. I just drove down to the local Walmart and they were out of virtually all motor oils. Creepy, frankly. Reminiscent of the toilet paper shortage. And by the way, that Walmart showed plenty of stock of the oil.

At this point I'm going to order the oil from Walmart with free shipping.

Why not run Castrol Edge? Everyone seems to agree it’s the same oil as Professional without the dye.

Castrol Edge sounds like a non alcoholic beer.

Your LR4 likely calls for the 20 weight oil because of fuel economy, not for any reason relating to engine protection. It will be fine with the 30 weight in there.

Isn't BMW doing 5w20 in the US and 5w30 in the rest of the world now?

No idea. BMW long ago stopped making cars I had interest enough to follow

I can't recall exactly, but I do know that the F80 has two officially approved weights.

Well, BMW apparently shitcanned approval for all 0w oils. So that may no longer apply. It’s why Castrol 0w40 no longer carries LL-01. Apparently BITOG believes that the 5w40 is inferior oil, so I may switch the X5 to the 0w40 when I run out.

I’m running Millers Nanodrive in the expensive engines, except for the 993, which all the engine builders swear should get Mobil V-Twin 20w50. (Specially designed for air cooled Harleys, but apparently also good for air cooled Porsches.)
