Geezus, almost $100k for THAT ?!?!

I envy you guys who could afford such a car. I could probably buy the steering wheel, gear shift knob and a few lug nuts/bolts, LOL.

Sometimes, I even wonder why in the hell I'm still a member of this website....

A minority of us have bought new Porsches.I never have. I'd like to, but it would probably be pretty irresponsible, hence the waffling.

Nowadays, considering how little I drive anything, it would make zero sense.

Yeah, I’d have a real hard time buying that new. My Porsche is 14 years old now, and I’ve owned it for 10.

I was going to start a new thread, but might as well add to this one. Just a couple fo random Boxster thoughts...

It really bothers me that the gearing on the MT Boxsters is so high. I thought it was high already on the 987S, where red line in 2nd gear meant 72+ mph. These 4.0L 781's top out at over 80mph in 2nd gear. That's ridiculous and not much fun in the street.

The low gearing is one of the best parts of the Miata. It can routinely be redlined in 2nd and sometimes 2nd AND 3rd.

Also, WTF is up (still) with Boxster prices? I'd be perfectly happy with a 981 GTS but those seem to be well over $60k still. That's crazy. I just can't justify that kind of cash on a toy. I guess I'll just do nothing and keep the NC or maybe upgrade to an ND down the road.

One of the reasons I finally went with the M2C. I got tired of waiting for 981 S/GTS pricing to come down out of the clouds. Even the 2013’s are still at stupid prices for low mileage ones.

I have three complaints on my 981S:

1. Gearing. The 987S was perfect (for me, as I like somewhat tall for hwy cruising as well as smooth shifting in town). The extra inch of tire diameter (3.5% about?) with no changed gears or final drive takes away from the otherwise wonderful experience. I'm re-gearing a motorcycle soon, I wish it would be as easy on a car.

2. Parking brake. Dislike the push button and its location.

3. Upgrade/premium wheels are 20". I would have preferred 19" and/or more sidewall.

That's it. Cabin, shifting, brake feel and engine sound are all better than the 987.

Why not just go with a 19” wheel and solve your gearing problem, too?

All the dealers lard up their cars with huge wheels down here. We were lucky to find ex’s Boxster with 19s.

This has occurred to me.. However, the 987 19's will require the same /35 skinny sidewall and not solve the rubber band tire problem. I could go to 18's with /40 profile, like on my 06 and yes, the gearing and profile problem would both be solved... But, I feel like speedo, ride height, a lot of things will get affected. I don't like the idea of using tires shorter than what the car was designed for.

Why would you have to use a 35 with 19s?

I'm not sure what size what width the tires are that you're talking about a 255/35-20 and 255/40-19 are exactly the same diameter except the 19" has a 14% taller sidewall. With 18s, 45 series are the same diameter.

What am I confusing or missing?
