Cost to repair? Still probably the cheapest/fastest solution. At least for now.

$3610, or almost exactly 10 percent of what I paid for it.

ho-lee shite!

Are you looking into the aftermarket / indy shop option? I have a well trusted and mature mech eng friend with a current gen golf R. He's done a lot to it, I could get you a recommendation if you want.

Probably should take it somewhere else.

FYI, from my friend.

Is his R chipped? If not, have him look at the bottom of the trans. If it’s oily, his rear main seal likely failed. VW is replacing clutches and seals under warranty in some cases.

I bought the South Bend stage 3 daily.. Pedal is really heavy, but once you get used to it, it’s awesome. Car launches hard. The clutch does chatter at idle (not super noticeable inside the car with the sound insulation), and it does add some NVH when you’re lugging in too hard of a gear. I added a Fluidampr (damped crank pulley) which reduced this a lot.

He’s welcome to give it a try sometime if he wants.

Thanks for that, Josh. It’s a daily and my wife would be put off by a heavy clutch effort, though, which is one of my hesitations with going aftermarket.

Yes, should probably take it somewhere else, but my time is more precious than money and it’s in pieces in the shop anyway. So.

Whatever. I’ve got no intention of keeping it.

Oh, and it’s not chipped. Box stock, which is what’s so infuriating.
