Just saw a red one this morning... in considerably worse condition.

Plaz and equ, so much for "rare"

This car wasn't nearly as "hot" and desirable as the Mustang Mach 1 from 1969, this was the car I and my other 12 year-old friends all dreamed of owning. When I turned 16 in 1973, our neighbor had one for sale, a red one, he offered it to my dad at a good price, but my dad - seeing his son salivating (wisely), passed on the deal

I went to high school with the grandson of a local Ford dealer. His 16th birthday present was a '69 Mach 1 (this was around '86 or early '87). The car apparently was a gift from Ford to his grandfather, and was an early production model with some non-stock performance accessories added by Ford.

Speaking of interesting cars in high school: One of Tom Sneva's daughter's was in my class, and she and her sister would occasionally drive the '83 Indy 500 pace car to school (a custom twin turbo Buick Riviera convertible -- one of only two produced).
