Wow, sounds boring. Fast, but boring.

Silly to compare this to the e39. Everyone knows the 3 is the new 5. This is more for old 7 series owners who don't want to drive a limo.

Well, the same review could be written of my f10 535i; it has a little less straight-line but all other measures are comparable. You know what? It's a great, relaxed car to deal with traffic and/or long drives, even with a 6-speed manual.

All manuals are now gone across the board for 5 series right?

It's also crazy that the new 550 awd is faster then the F10 M5.

But if it were an Infinity it'd have to be a Q.

I believe 2013 was the last year that you could buy a manual 5 series (other than the M5).

Agree that the new 5er sounds boring. Will probably make BMW tons of money.

A bit ridiculous at this point to compare it to the e39. Those days are long gone. There's something not right about the front-end design. Would still probably pick a 5 series over the competition though. Better tech and build quality than XF, better balanced than the A6, more attractive interior and exterior than the E class (IMO) and likely better lease deals (and engines) than all of them. They all have numb electric steering at this point so that's kinda moot. Midsize sedans are a shrinking niche though. I'd bet you'll be able to lease a 530e (plug in hybrid) in the low 400s within a year. Would make great commuter.

Saw a nice imola red e39 M5 parked on the street the other day. Kinda made me want one.
