2005 Evo changes

For those that don't visit the Fest anymore, here is a link that was posted over there to changes for 05 to the Evo lineup.

Big ones are a 5 hp bump (to 276), a helical LSD on the front axle, and an active center differential. This is on all RS, Evo and MR models.

The MR adds trick BBS wheels, Bilsteins, a 6 speed box and an aluminum roof, but I question whether it's really worth whatever the price hit is going to be.

I have to admit I am intrigued.

I have to admit that if my car were totalled tomorrow, I would definitely look at an EVO MR.

So it'll be an instant classic. Like a Hudson Hornet. Or an AMX.

The two things stopping me from jumping on the Evo bandwagon are a) the cheeseball interior, and b) the fact that I'm not sure I could handle having both an Evo and a WRX. Other than that, the Evo looks like the real deal, and these enhancements (I forgot to mention the huge increase in torque) really sweeten the pot.

I need to drive one.

I guess that's one way to look at it. The possibilty of no warranty coverage and non-existant replacement parts would worry me. Mitsu's aren't exactly the poster child of reliability.

I looked at both the Evo and STi before ordering the M3 and the interior of both cars turned me off....that and the dealers not letting me test drive either one.

There is no way I'd buy a performance car like that without a thorough test drive. I'm with you on this.

The way I understand it, the warranty is a contract and would have to be honored no matter what.

By who? If the company is gone what are you going to do? DC has already begun to back out, but I guess since they own something like 35% stake they could be made responsible
