But I'm also curious about q5 hybrid that's coming. What'd really like is a diesel x3.

People seem pretty confident that'll happen.
I don't agree, but then, I don't really see the draw for a 4cyl turbo, unless it's getting 40mpg or something. Looking at the numbers for something like the Toureg Hybrid, that doesn't make much sense either. |

First: I'd prefer the 4cyl turbo AUC power compared to the x3 28xDrive power. The straight six with turbos has always been cammy to me in power delivery. Fine in a lighter car, but in a 4000lb car, less optimal to me. The little turbo is all about torque so it's my preference. As for the hybrid q5 that's coming, that seems worth it because it's a city vehicle so it'd be worth it to have the fuel e onomy compared to the standard engines.

Do you think the n20 will get better mileage in the x3 than it does in the 5 series?
City mileage is 22 in the 528xi vs 19 for the x3 35 (21 for the 535xi). That doesn't strike me as significant enough to warrant the performance hit. Oh, and the x3 35 has a better rated mpg than the i6 28 - no point to bother with that one at all as far as I can tell. |

For that particular question, as much as I'd want the x3 35, I could never justify it on cost. And the x3 28 is just.....not palatable. So here, this is more about base car power than it is a fuel economy question. The base six is already pretty frugal. I just hate how it feels from a standstill.

They are both outrageously expensive. Our config in a 28 would only have saved ~$3500. Not exactly pocket change, but on $50k+ vehicle....
