Good points, for sure.

I am coming around to believing the X3 M40i is the right decision for me, however I option it. I think I will also try to hold onto my 2 as long as that's feasible, as the X will in no way be a substitute for it.

I'm a little tired of BMWs, though, even if they are the right choice. So, I was hoping to change things up a bit and solve the problem of mediocre BMW service here--and now a greater distance to travel to get that mediocre service.

Porsche and Audi are all within minutes of my house...

How much service do you really need though? I go to the dealer once a year.

True. I'd thought of that. Unless there's an issue, of course. I am thinking of keeping the 2, though, so that would mean schlepping both of them. The 2 is still under warranty.

Ewwwww boy, the X5 4.5e launch doesn't seem to be going too well.

Ugh. I know. I keep wanting to give in to the temptation of the X3 plug-in, and then I read some thing like this:

Just keep in mind that the rate of EV fires is actually less than the rate of ICE fires...

Oh great ... I literally just sent my Salesman a text asking if they are taking deposits for the i4.

I suspect issues will be worked out by then. And the problems seem to be stemming from the mild hybrid battery.

Wasn't sure where else to post this, so I figured I'd share here. Cayennes really suck. I've twice had base models as loaners and I've twice hated every second of it.
My biggest issue is the ride makes me car sick. It has a really bad early floatiness and a left to right movement in the suspension that stiffens up after the initial float and makes me very queezy. My son mentioned it also after about 20 mins in it. It happened to me every time I drove it.
The 2nd issue is it's very expensive without being very good at anything. Both of the ones I had were pretty lowly optioned base 6cyl models and they were both over $75k.

The 8AT programming is not good. It has a really bad down shift routine when you're slowing to a stop that is quite jerky and also seems to upset your braking, as in it kicks down too early and overly slows the car so you lift off the brake a bit and then close on the car infront of you too much. It also kicks into 1st before a complete stop which does not feel pleasant. On take off it can be caught not ready too. Not as bad as my e70 x5 but if you are messing with the throttle you can get a set up where it doesn't go, doesn't go, doesn't go then boom goes a lot.

Everything else is *fine* I guess, but there is no Porsche DNA in that thing.
