I shopped hard for a 987.2S or 997.2S for a few months. Nearly nothing on the market that was good value. There was one over the winter in PCA/Kansas. Low 50's for a low mileage, LSD, black/black 997.2S, sold in 2-3 weeks at a very fair price. Every single other 987/997 (2009+) have been overpriced and prices are very close to where my sold my 2010 997.2 in 2012 and my 2011 987.2S in 2013.

No.
This old 911 fetish has run its course. That is a good car at $30k, not the 50's that it's going to reach. I drove a very similar, clean, extremely well-maintained and optioned 993 coupe 6MT back to back with a base, base, no options other than heated seats, 2014 boxster. Guess what? THe boxster wiped the floor clean, the driving experience of the 993 was archaic, it didn't feel as good at turns or stopping, not even close. The acceleration was comparable or would go to the willing 981. That boxster was asking at $40k with low miles and a CPO. Anyone buying these are going for - style/heritage/emotional want - piddly back seats (mayyy be) not the driving experience. Those are fine reasons but driving is not one of them. |

With 996 turbo pricing climbing, and 997 turbos jumping the shark, I'm starting to think about a 991 as they are still dropping, and bigger back seats.

do they actually do have a bigger back seat? I assumed yes but when the 991 first came out I checked them out at local dealer with my family and was shocked how small they were. Now the ones in my 996 are actually not that bad for my kids to sit in currently.

I haven't gotten serious enough to actually look yet, but everything I've read says the new car has more interior space. It has a longer wheelbase and it's wider also, so there's that.
