I like Gulf Blue, that's not how it looks IRL.. .would't pay extra for it, wouldn't kick it out of bed. Did not get a chance to click through other pics.

that was my thought too. I just thought it was too many disparate elements of 'tacky', and none of them worked together.

Red accents on a black car, sure, but not on a baby blue car that has all sorts of other things going on too.

@equ, i've seen gulf in real life and like it. I'd be OK with a debadged Gulf car with silver sport classic wheels.

What are your thoughts on Chalk / Crayon? This one is out of my price range, but would be my current choice of everything on the market right now:

Chalk is ok in the pic but I haven't seen it in real life. Doesn't seem like a big risk but hard to get feelings for...

I forgot. Did you drive the 991.2? Is it THAT much better than the 991.1 due to the turbo engine?

Nothing is better then the 991.1 engine... not knocking the 991.2 because it is awesome. They are are just different.

I don't mind it. The color looks better on Porsche's website, though. Of the special colors, Lava Orange is my favorite. But I'd be a bit afraid to draw that much attention to my very expensive car. I was bit leery of how flashy Estoril is when I first got my 2. Although that feeling has waned a bit since.

Not liking it so much on the 911. I do think similar colors do look good on the RS3, GTI and M2C. It looks a bit to understated for the 911.

It may have something to do with that top color. It looks like a faded black.

This is where I have to jump in and say you should get a special color, you won’t regret it. I absolutely love Sakhir orange on the BMW and would be sad if that car were any other color.

I haven't, yet. I'm still in the research phase. Nothing has been local and worth my time to go check, especially with all my family holiday stuff going on.

I'm basing my focus on the .2 mostly on my experience with a 987.2 and the 981s. I didn't / don't enjoy either engine in comparison to my 1er. I liked everythign else about them, but really miss torque. Everythig I've read says the .2 fixes that issue (while not having as good an exhaust, not being as revvy, etc., but those seem like fair trades for me). Plus, the .2s are mostly still under warranty so I'll be able to CPO them.

Right now I'd say I'm 70% 991.2, 20% R8, 10% AMV8. I chatted offline with Alan about his ownership experiences with the R8 vs his 991 and Porsche just sounds so much more livable, reasonable to maintain, and enjoyable from the drivers seat.

I'll be much more engaged in this search late q1. I'll probably start a thread at that point.

Re: colors, I'm already a little uncomfortable with optics of owning a car in this price point, and I don't really want to stand out more than it will just by being a 911. I like the classic 50th anniversary colors, the darker blues, chalk, agate, white and the graphite blue color. I don't want silver, but I also don't see Miami, racing yellow or the carrera red in my future either.
