Honestly that's dumb and not consistent with the character of the Wrangler.

Base model has plenty of power anyway.

More info here—it’s a “concept” but presumably destined for production.

I do recall when the JK first came out, that had that old mini van V6 that was very weak. But since the Pentastar engine (~2012) power has been at least adequate for what it is. So I agree.

There is of talk about PHEV or EV versions of the Wrangler.

Eh. The V6 in the Jeep honestly makes no sense. It's a high revving (for what it is), low torque motor. That's like basically the exact opposite of what you should put in there. Yes, I know that inadequate engines are a Jeep characteristic, but it's also entirely reasonable to fix.

Agreed. But they now have a turbo-4 and a diesel.

Turbo 4 and diesel make more sense to me.

I'd argue that it's only the intended character of the Wrangler, but the primary reality is that people just use these things for fashion accessories anymore. Massive wheels and tires, big lifts, cheap bolt on this-n-that, loud burbly exhaust. The V8 seems perfect for that scenario.

Watch the stoopids line up. I already see what they use Wranglers for, do them up and cruise so the 6.4 would be perfect for the show-off crowd and bleed my ear drums as they will undoubtedly go very loud.

My son, who's enamored of Hip Hop culture, is set on buying an Escalade when he grows up.
