My buddy finally got his new Bronco Raptor and gave me a chance to drive it.

A couple of thoughts:

-Removable top does produce a lot of wind noise as expected. Sounded like he had a roof basket on the car. One of the big con for me.
-I thought the 10 speed auto that was designed with GM was supposed to be a POS but is shifted very nice in auto mode, felt almost DCT like. Of course my only normal reference is a 5 speed auto In manual mode it seemed responsive to me too, not porsche DCT but VW DCT. There was a bit of noticeable shudder when shifting in manual though.
-Digital dash and infotainment looked nice and up to date. Good graphics and responsive.
-I tried to put it in 4 auto from 2WD and it got stuck in 4WD on dry roads after driving straight and hitting buttons we eventually went back to 2WD. Not sure if user error or ford quality.
-Steering was surprisingly responsive, almost sport like. Almost so responsive it might be annoying to keep straight on the freeway. Seems odd for off-road car but maybe you want that for baja running?
-Power seemed good but not crazy.
-Interior space was not that impressive for exterior size.
-Told him he is going to drive like an asshole on the road with it terrorizing people

Cool. I've never so much as sat in one. Your comment on the interior space does remind me of when I sat in a current-gen Wrangler Ultd (hardtop on) and I felt the same way. I didn't expect it to be large inside but it felt small.

Meh.

I’d rather have the 4Runner.

I really wanted to like the new Bronco.

Two huge minuses will mean I never buy one.

I have no need for a four door. First its just me and my wife, but more important is that the doors on the two door are larger making it easier for my 6'4" build to get in and out.

Second, The two door is only available with standard seats on a sliding rail. The 4 door can come with power seats. I just sit too high in the standard seats and can't find a comfortable sitting position to drive it. I can move the power, 4 doors seats to a very comfortable position, but then I have the door pillar in the way of me getting into and out of the seat.

I could rent and drive either, but the seating issue will prevent ownership

We broke in my buddies braptor in yesterday. Impressed he went since he is going to get paint protection on it but hadn't got it yet.

My big issue with the 2 door is that it has a smaller gas tank compared to the 4 door.
