Probably a 3 year lease that was traded in early towards something else (happens more than you think... but costs $$$)

Thank you for the insight. They racked up a lot of miles in just a year, so maybe they ended up buying something?

I was worried it might be some kind of assist to get out of a problem car...

It could be that too, no way to know for sure other than to ask. BMW has a “trade assist” program to help dealers do that for cars that don’t meet lemon law criteria. If it is a trade assist car they have to disclose that to you though - required to do so by BMW. But that’s different than a case when someone just gets rid of it on their own because they were annoyed/frustrated/hated it.

I mean, I think racking up a bunch of miles in a year is at least in tension with the idea that they had a lot of problems and hated it, though I guess it’s not impossible.

More good insight! I didn't know they had to disclose...

You never know the circumstances, I sold off a perfect low mileage 1 yr old E46 330i also sold a 1 yr old Mazda 6 back in the day as well as an RX8 with 4,000 miles ... all the cars were perfect, low mileage cars and could have passed for brand new.

The 2019 Cayman I bought was 6 months old with 1,200 miles .. the car looked and smelled brand new ...

Don’t judge the time someone owned it, just have it checked out by a 3rd party, there are plenty of them nowadays as buying a car site unseen is not uncommon.

I wouldn’t recommend a local shop as they only repair cars, I would recommend a business that all they do is car inspections ... these guy over analyze a car which is a good thing.

Updates: The white 3 wagon in Ohio has sold. Not surprising.

The 2019 X3 40i here is nicely optioned, has MSport and Adaptive Suspension, but not the M diff. All things considered, I’d rather have the M diff over the Adaptive Suspension, as the default for the X3 M40i is MSport suspension...
