Absolutely love the blue but the mismatched wheel wells would always be the first thing me eye would see. 😕

Yeah I’d love a hybrid wagon, either A6 or 550e.

Pretty sure you can get a plug-in hybrid version of both the a6 and 5 series wagon in Europe. Agree it would be nice if they brought those over here

Yep. But, we also had a plug-in hybrid X5 here with dynamic handling package, and they discontinued that option for some stupid reason.

Didn't realize this, but apparently Audi briefly offered a plugin version of the A7 here (so basically the same car): https://www.edmunds.com/audi/a7/2022/plug-in-hybrid/

Unfortunately, they used a 4 cylinder engine with the hybrid system. I think that's what killed many of these plugins here in the US atleast in the luxury segment; when you're spending over 60k you really dont want to hear or feel a 4 cylinder. Plus, its even more jarring in a hybrid since the EV mode would be silent and smooth. BMW finally got this when they introdcued the 45e (and now 50e) version of their hybrid system and it seems to doing quite well. I suspect that Audi doesn't have a PHEV that works with their 6 cylinder engines (Porsche does but they use a small battery that yields under 20 miles of range). I think VW group is more focused on full BEVs right now.

Yeah the current gen 5er wagon also uses the 30e powertrain and only has a 12 kWh battery. Really nothing worth paying extra for.

Wow -didn't realize the 30e used such a small battery.

The 30e spec is for the current gen, which is being replaced next year. It sounds like the new 5 will have two PHEVs, at least in Europe; a 550e and a 530e. They will share the same 19.4 kWh battery (slightly smaller than the X5? Or maybe that’s usable v gross capacity?) and 194 hp electric motor (same as the X5). The difference is the engine, with the 30 using the 2 liter four and the 50 using the 3 liter six.

Both look set to be available in Europe in the spring of ‘24. Not sure which will come to the US.
